The Entertainer Blogger Award

0PkZqb8

I’ve been nominated, and so it begins. *evil gaze into the sky*

I don’t really do posts like these, since I’m not really into the whole awards facade. This is really just a way to name drop other bloggers, and maybe call them condescending fruitcakes while you mention them. I did promise myself to be more active in wordpress though, so I might as well do one of these, after avoiding them for five glorious years. Apologies to the other awards I ignored. I was mostly focused on my 1000 goal, so my tunnel vision-esque approach to blogging didn’t really acknowledge these things. I hope you can forgive me.

Anyways, I’ve been nominated by Keiko who does weekly episodic reviews of anime. Check her stuff out, since the whole purpose of these awards is to expose bloggers to other bloggers, and maybe call them nuttier than a bag of nuts while we’re at it. Seriously though, her episodic reviews are very good. Give her a follow.

The rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  • Add these rules to your post.
  • Answer all the questions below.
  • Display the award picture in your post.
  • Nominate 12 other bloggers who are funny, inspiring and most important of all entertaining!

The questions:

1. Why did you blog in the first place?

I’ve mentioned this already every time I do an anniversary post, but I have a goal of 1000 anime reviews. I decided to use it as an anchor to get myself out of depression, and it worked for the most part.

2. What is your favorite book?

I don’t really read much. I can consume as many movies, anime or TV dramas you throw at me but I’ll slowly die if I read book. I think I’ve only really finished two books in my entire life, aside from text books and children books I teach my students, and I do like them both. The first one is The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. It’s a nice story of following your dreams, because it leads to an amazing adventure and incredible riches. The second is Socrates in Love by Kyoichi Katayama. My sister had the book, and I decided to read it after a five day blackout caused by Typhoon Haiyan. It’s about love, but also a nice look at people losing sentimentality over the beauty of life. If I have motivation to read, then I would really like to consume more books. I plan to buy books and read ’em when I get a stable income.

3. What do you dislike the most?

I don’t like close minded people. There are those people that talks, but doesn’t really listen, so it’s often a pain to talk to them. Especially in the anime fandom, where everyone’s taste is awful by default. I’m honestly not bothered by it, so I won’t walk up to one and challenge him to a fist fight, but my entire endeavor as a reviewer seems moot when close minded-ness prevails above all else.

Also, as I live in a very religious country, I don’t really like overly religious people. The ones that pray first instead of doing something by themselves, I dislike them a lot. I have a lot of students that’ll fall ill or get in accidents, and you visit the hospital to see no one has visited because they’re all in church. I had one visit where, due to lack of staff, the poor thing was wearing his filth. He crapped in the bed, he hasn’t bathe and he hasn’t eaten for days. People, like anything in this world, religion can be an addiction.

4. What is your favorite food at the mall?

Mall food is expensive. As a cheap Asian, I prefer street foods. Being a Filipino, you know I love balut. I actually don’t, but I do eat them. I do love barbecued chicken feet and chicken heads drenched in ketchup and oil caramelized over charcoal heat.

5. What is your favorite past time?

Is this a sports thing? I like basketball, but I don’t really follow any sport. I do love wrestling though, but I also don’t follow it as much. The technical aspect of wrestling matches has diluted over the years. For a default answer, I watch a lot of anime.

The Nominees:

I’m supposed to nominate 12 bloggers, but I don’t know that many people. I’ll cut that in half, and just tag seven bloggers. You are supposed to tag 12 though, so always follow the rules or something. I’m pretty sure most bloggers have already done this as well. You are not forced to do this award thing though, so ignore the tag if you want.

  1. If there is anything I like about these kinds of awards posts, it’s definitely learning about the people who post them. In regards to your goal to review 1000 anime, I’ve got to say that is awesome! I can honestly say I don’t think I’ve seen even 1000 episodes of anime (maybe?). So that is a crazy high number, but your pacing on the way there is impressive. So I wish you the best.
About the books, my roommate in my freshman year of university read The Alchemist and highly recommended it, but I haven’t gotten around to it yet. Though to be honest, Socrates in Love just sounds sillier and more interesting to me, especially just judging it by the title.
Anyways, it was nice to read the post and learn a bit more about you, especially since I’m a new reader 😀

    • I’ve actually slowed down. I’m supposed to hit 500 by now, but life responsibilities is holding me back. XD
And thanks for being a new reader!!! :3
I think I only finished those books cause they’re very short, lol. But I hope you enjoy them as well. 🙂

  2. Thank you very much for the nomination. 🙂 I like doing these types of posts and try to do every one I get, but I will admit you can get burned out on them easily if you even have a few sitting in your queue. They are usually fun though mostly because bloggers get to learn about each other and even think about themselves in manners that they typically wouldn’t.

      • I haven’t done one of these award thing in probably over a year so the burn out thing is no issue. Lol. I shall tackle this award with all bloggerness and feast upon its fun. 😛

  3. I’m glad you did this though it seems like you don’t really like them since I like learning new stuff about the bloggers I follow! 🙂 The fact that you’ve set yourself a goal of 1,000 reviews to help your depression is quite admirable. I’m glad it’s been helping you through everything and good luck with your goal! 🙂

    • The notifications didn’t tag me I actually read my name on your list, lol.
And I jsut never got into the awards thing, but that’s changing now. I need to be more active and friendlier. XD
This site helped me through so much, and reviewing is a great way to focus, actually, since I started out as an bum when I created this site, and now I’m a proud teacher. 🙂
Thank! I hope I clear this goal.

      • Really? 😮 I might have to go change the links or something to ensure everyone I nominated sees it. Thanks for telling me that, I didn’t even know that happened! 😮
Hahaha in all honesty, I’d see it floating around and I didn’t quite understand it myself but I though it would be fun to give it a go :’)
Awh that’s so good!! You’ve clearly achieved so much. 😀
My pleasure! I’m sure you will 🙂

  4. Hm? HM? What is this? I’m fairly new at blogging, so I didn’t know this existed, and for some reason I’m laughing madly, because I opened the referrer link (Keiko-senpai), just to find another one (D-senpai), then opened another one (Meltingpots- I stuttered-senpai), and continued until other two or three more. I stopped at Massaccusetts Novel, but I think if I have the time I’ll try to search for the root.subtle Fate/ reference

I find this somehow hilarous, and it reminds me of a curse. Oh, but don’t misunderstand me, I’m not against it or anything, just find it weirdly entertaining by itself. But maybe I’m just crazy (probably, as I’m even laughing at the missing “n” in my username, don’t worry though, my teachers mispells my true name pretty much always, heck I do that too sometimes).

    search “Balut” on Google
…sorry, I’m weirded out. says while eating a raw carrot

Oh, by the way, thanks for the mention. Though I think it’s weird for me to have discovered this while lurking and not from any notification of the tag. Did I mess something up with my settings or something?

    • Most award thingy actually put the name of the original idea guy as part of the rules, but I guess later iterations got lazier. Even the questions are kinda dumb. In other awards, you get to add a question or make up new ones entirely, cause the mall food question is beyond random.
Shut up and just make an award post, lol.

How do you read your name? I hurried this post, so I read it as Izanagi Ookami, which sounds cool. But it’s actually IzanagiN?

Balut is an aphrodisiac, said someone. It’s very cheap protein so us third county people like it.

I took the effort to actually make sure the post makes a pingback to your About page. Is it not working? I don’t get this site sometimes.

      • Tried to find the originator, but it became a pain so I gave up.

Someone may change the rules then…Rule Breaker! Actually just done it. I’m going to faint as soon as I finish this reply.

Izanagi-no-okami should be the correct one. I think Izanagi is fine though, it’s just that it’s usually already taken so I put the “nookami” part.

I see… I think I won’t get the pleasure to taste it. For satisfying my stomach , I usually crunch carrots. As for proteins…. I’m weirdly hooked on eggs lately.

I don’t get most of WordPress working either. Some things work, some don’t even thought they are supposed to work. Screw it.

        • Yeah, I read your post. It stopped at a book blog or something. it’s interesting how the chain ended up in the anime circle.

I only realized how to read your name after I posted my reply. Who is Izanagi, and what’s up with his wolf?

But, I’m sure you’ve eaten worst, right? Or does your household not uphold the freaky chinese tradition or eating anything w/ wings except airplans and anything w/ legs except tables. XD A student mentioned that adage to me, and it was over steamed buns.

WordPress is opting you to buy their services. It’s a business tactic, so take the bait if you must. If I’m making money of this, then I’d avail to their service. I’m cheap though, so I don’t want to.

          • Yeah, I wonder if it started in the book circle or in another one.

Hm, Izanagi is a main God in Japanese mithology, it’s pretty much Zeus/Jupiter from Greek/Roman’s: father of Gods I suppose. But that’s definitely not the reason for my username, as if I were that conceited (the “no Okami” stands for “great God” by the way “no o-Kami” would be more correct I think). It was just another chuuni choice of my past self: I played Persona 4, a specific Persona was called Izanagi no Okami, I liked it and started using it. Now, it’s just deeply engraved on my mind so I use it pretty much for everything online. I think I use it more than my real name…

Nah, I personally eat normal dishes, as I’m not too fond of those ones. I did see several weird dishes though, I think eyes, tongues and other stuff from reptiles were there, but I’m fine with my bread and eggs sincerely.

Nope, I don’t think I’ll ever do it. I laughed when I read “making money”, it’s probably possible for many, definitely not for me. Also, I’m cheap af too. You should see me being reluctant spending even some more cents for miscellaneous things (bags, transports, food, etc.).

            • I think it did start there, since one of the questions is a fave book. And book readers tend to be hip socialite, so I guess the mall food question also makes sense. I’m generalizing though. I don’t mean all book readers are hip socialite.

Ah, a Persona reference. That’s nice. I think I’ve summoned him before, but I always feel bad sacrificing my monsters for stronger ones.

bread and eggs can be exotic too. We eat reptiles too, and also too many heads. I think Italy is known for its nose to tail cooking too. Don’t you have ham made of pork’s head or something….or is that french.
And chinese cuisine is insane. They are known to boil cats for their tasty broths. Do you know the human fetus delicacy? I think that’s a myth though.

A lot of people make money off wordpress. Advertisers and other people would approach you when oyu have big traffic, like a thousand or more a day, something I used to have until I ended my WP payment plan. Video game sites were also asking me to review stuff, and pay me too. If I wasn’t sch a humble little prick that prefer a career outside of my house.

Lol, I’m trying not to make an “asian is cheap joke” right now. If it’s airports, then they do gouge you too much. It’s crazy.

  6. Thanks for the nomination! It really means a lot to me when i haven’t been doing this long. We share a dislike it seems, close minded people grind my gears the most! I’ll get right onto my post for this, thanks again.

I also kinda want some BBQ chicken legs now… 😀

Damn, can’t believe there’s someone worse than me :p

Anyway, thanks for the nomination. Hope you don’t mind if I take my time with this. Well, I won’t take five years at least :p
